What Medicare generally covers for mental health

According to Medicare.gov, Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers a wide range of outpatient mental health services, including psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and individual psychotherapy with Medicare-enrolled licensed professionals. Medicare.gov also notes that Part B covers certain telehealth services, including psychotherapy, and that you can receive them from home.

Your costs depend on your situation, such as your deductible and coinsurance. You can review general cost-sharing on Medicare.gov. Coverage varies, especially if you have a Medicare Advantage or supplemental plan, so our team checks your benefits before your first appointment and tells you what to expect.
