Life in Ladera Ranch tends to run on a family calendar. School drop-off on Sienna Parkway, practice at the village parks, a stop at the Ladera Ranch library, then dinner and homework. When a teenager seems anxious or withdrawn, a parent is stretched thin, or a couple keeps having the same argument, it’s easy to push getting help to next month. Integrative Psychiatry & Wellness (IPW Health) offers same-week appointments for new patients, in person just down the road or by secure video from home.
Ladera Ranch is one of the closest communities to our office. We’re at 27201 Puerta Real, Suite 300, in Mission Viejo, and Crown Valley Parkway runs almost straight there. From central Ladera near O’Neill Drive, it’s roughly 3 miles west on Crown Valley; from Covenant Hills or Terramor, take Antonio Parkway to Crown Valley, about 5 miles. That’s usually 10 minutes or so in light traffic, a little longer around school start and pickup times.

Adolescence brings its own pressures: academics, social media, sports, friendships and identity. Our teen mental health care includes psychiatric evaluations and therapy for adolescents, with parents involved in the right way. A psychiatric nurse practitioner and an associate family therapist on our team work with teens, and teen visits take place by secure video for families located in California, so nobody has to leave school early for an appointment.
Common reasons Ladera families reach out include anxiety and panic, low mood, attention and focus problems, school refusal, and stress after a hard event. If you’re not sure whether what you’re seeing is typical teen behavior, an evaluation is a reasonable place to start. It gives you a clearer picture and next steps.
Parents need support as well. An adult ADHD evaluation can make sense when you notice your own focus struggles after your child is diagnosed. We also care for mood changes linked to hormones, such as PMDD, the postpartum year and perimenopause, where sleep, cycles and stress all play a part. When clinically appropriate, medication management with regular follow-up can be part of the plan.
Our licensed therapists offer individual therapy by secure video for California clients, including CBT and EMDR. Couples therapy is available both in person at our office and by telehealth, which helps when two work schedules and a carpool rotation have to line up.
IPW Health was founded by Shahrzad (Shery) Shadmani, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, a psychiatric nurse practitioner who also holds board certification as a family nurse practitioner. In-person psychiatric visits at the Mission Viejo office are with our founder, Shahrzad (Shery) Shadmani, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, on Mondays, and in-person therapy, including couples therapy, is offered there on Saturdays. Psychiatric nurse practitioners Merrick Tsai and Beverly Glavan see patients by secure telehealth, and telehealth visits are available throughout the week. Psychiatric care and therapy are coordinated within one practice, with your consent.
Psychiatric telehealth is available across California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado, which helps when a college student is studying in one of those states. Therapy is for clients located in California. Visits are offered in English and Farsi; see our Farsi-speaking therapist page. We also see families from Rancho Santa Margarita and San Juan Capistrano.
Insurance and cost: We are in network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicare, Optum and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies by plan, so we verify your benefits before your first visit. Self-pay is available too: a psychiatric evaluation is $350, a follow-up visit is $200, and therapy sessions range from $140 to $250. Self-pay patients receive a Good Faith Estimate before the first visit. See plans and pricing.
