Some people want to talk about their mental health face to face. Others would rather log on from home between meetings. At Integrative Psychiatry & Wellness (IPW Health), you can do either. To keep it simple, in-person care at our Mission Viejo office runs on a set weekly schedule: psychiatric visits on Mondays and therapy on Saturdays. Every other visit is by secure telehealth. This post explains what each day is for, who you will see, and how to pick the format that suits you.

The weekly schedule at a glance
- Mondays: in-person psychiatric visits, including evaluations and follow-up care.
- Saturdays: in-person therapy, including individual and couples therapy.
- Every other visit: secure telehealth.
Our office is at 27201 Puerta Real, Suite 300, Mission Viejo, CA 92691. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm.
Mondays: in-person psychiatric care
On Mondays, our founder, Shahrzad (Shery) Shadmani, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, sees patients in person at the Mission Viejo office. Shery is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and a certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C), and she offers care in English and Farsi.
A Monday visit can be:
- A first psychiatric evaluation. A thorough conversation about your mood, anxiety, sleep, focus, history and goals. You leave with a clear explanation and a plan you understand.
- An ADHD evaluation for adults. It looks at how symptoms show up at work and at home, and at conditions that can look like ADHD, such as anxiety, poor sleep and stress.
- Follow-up care. Regular visits to review how you are doing and adjust your plan, with coordination with your therapist if you have one and you consent.
Many patients like to meet in person for the first evaluation, then switch to telehealth for follow-ups. Others do the opposite. Our Mission Viejo in-person psychiatry page has more about seeing Shery at the office.
Saturdays: in-person therapy
Saturdays are set aside for therapy at the office. That suits people whose weekdays are full of work, school runs or long commutes. Saturday sessions include:
- Individual therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, grief, life transitions and more.
- Couples therapy for partners who want to communicate better, rebuild trust or work through conflict. Some couples find it easier to talk openly in a neutral room than at the kitchen table.
Our therapists are licensed or registered in California. Browse all of our therapy services or read about the clinicians on our team page.
The rest of the week: secure telehealth
All other visits are by secure video, so you can join from home, work or another private space. Where you need to be located during the visit depends on the type of care:
- Psychiatric care is available by telehealth for patients located in California, Oregon, Washington or Colorado at the time of each visit.
- Therapy is available by telehealth for clients located in California.
Teen visits also take place by secure video, for families located in California. See teen mental health care for details. If you have never had a video appointment, our guide to your first telehealth psychiatry appointment walks you through it.
In person or telehealth: how to choose
The clinical approach is the same either way, so the choice comes down to what makes it easiest for you to show up and speak openly. In person may suit you if:
- you live or work near Mission Viejo and a Monday or Saturday visit fits your week,
- you find it easier to open up in a quiet room away from home, or
- you and your partner want a neutral space for couples therapy.
Telehealth may suit you if your schedule is tight, you would rather skip the drive, or you live farther away, including in Oregon, Washington or Colorado for psychiatric care. You don’t have to choose for good. Many patients mix the two, and you can switch as your needs change. Our side-by-side guide to in-person vs. telehealth care goes into more detail.
Insurance, languages and getting started
We are in network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicare, Optum and UnitedHealthcare, and self-pay is also available. Our article on insurance vs. self-pay explains the trade-offs. Care is available in English and Farsi. Farsi-speaking clients can also read about therapy with our Farsi-speaking therapist.
New patients can usually be seen the same week. When you call, tell us whether you would like a Monday psychiatric visit, a Saturday therapy session or telehealth, and our team will match you with the right clinician and time. Questions about scheduling, costs or states? See our FAQ.
In crisis or thinking of harming yourself? Call or text 988, or dial 911. We are an outpatient practice, not an emergency service. More options are on our crisis resources page.
