San Clemente has a pace of its own. Early surf at T-Street, coffee on Avenida Del Mar, a sunset walk along the beach trail to the pier. Even in a town like this, anxiety, depression, grief or strain at home can build quietly until everyday life feels harder than it should. Integrative Psychiatry & Wellness (IPW Health) offers therapy and psychiatric care for San Clemente residents, with same-week appointments for new patients and the choice of visiting in person or meeting by secure video.
Our office is at 27201 Puerta Real, Suite 300, in Mission Viejo, near Crown Valley Parkway and the I-5. From San Clemente City Hall on Calle Negocio, it’s about 12.5 miles. Hop on the I-5 north at Avenida Pico, ride past Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano, and exit at Crown Valley Parkway. That’s usually 20 minutes or so in light traffic, a little longer from the Pier Bowl or southwest San Clemente. If you live in Talega or Forster Ranch, some drivers skip the freeway and take Avenida La Pata north to Antonio Parkway and Crown Valley Parkway instead.
Our licensed therapists work with adults and couples on the things that tend to weigh on people most. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) gives you practical skills for anxiety, panic and depression. Exposure and response prevention (ERP) is a structured, evidence-based therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Grief counseling offers room to process a loss, whether it’s recent or years old. Couples therapy is available in person at our office or by telehealth, which helps when two schedules don’t line up easily. Read more about our therapy services.
Sometimes therapy is enough. Other times it helps to add psychiatric care. A psychiatric evaluation looks at your symptoms, history and goals, and an ADHD evaluation can clarify long-standing trouble with focus and organization. When it’s clinically appropriate, medication management with regular follow-up can be part of your plan, coordinated with your therapist.
We also look at hormonal and metabolic factors. Thyroid function, iron levels, blood sugar, sleep and hormonal changes such as perimenopause can all affect mood and energy, so they’re part of the conversation from the start.
IPW Health was founded by Shahrzad (Shery) Shadmani, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, a psychiatric nurse practitioner who also holds board certification as a family nurse practitioner. She leads a team of other psychiatric providers and licensed therapists, so you don’t have to coordinate between separate offices on your own.
Telehealth is available throughout California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado, so you can meet from home in Marblehead, Rancho San Clemente or Shorecliffs, or keep going with the same provider when you travel. We also see patients from Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita and Irvine. Patients in San Juan Capistrano, the next town up the I-5, have their own page with directions.
Insurance: In-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicare, Optum and UnitedHealthcare for both therapy and psychiatry. Cash-pay is also available. Coverage varies by plan, so we verify your benefits before your first visit. See plans and pricing.
