Irvine runs on full calendars. Mornings start with drop-off in Woodbridge or Northwood, workdays fill up around the Irvine Spectrum and the business parks near the 405, and evenings end at a soccer field near the Great Park or on a walk around Mason Regional Park. With a schedule like that, getting help for anxiety, a low mood or focus problems can slide down the list. Integrative Psychiatry & Wellness (IPW Health) tries to make it easier, with same-week appointments for new patients and visits in person or by secure video.
Our office is at 27201 Puerta Real, Suite 300, in Mission Viejo, near Crown Valley Parkway and the I-5 and close to Mission Hospital. From Irvine City Hall it’s about 15 miles, usually 20 to 25 minutes in light traffic. Most people take the I-405 south until it merges with the I-5 at the El Toro “Y,” then continue south on the I-5 to Crown Valley Parkway. From the Irvine Spectrum area it’s closer, roughly 10 miles. If you live on the east side of town, in Portola Springs, Orchard Hills or the Great Park neighborhoods, the 241 toll road south is another option. Rush hour on the 5 and 405 can add a lot of time, so plenty of Irvine patients mix in-person visits with telehealth.
Most care at IPW Health begins with a psychiatric evaluation. Your first visit covers your symptoms, your history and what you want to change, whether that’s constant worry, panic, depression, mood swings or trouble sleeping. If attention and follow-through are the main concern, an ADHD evaluation looks at your history and rules out look-alikes such as anxiety, depression or poor sleep. You leave with a clearer picture and a plan, which may include therapy, follow-up visits and, when it’s clinically appropriate, medication management.
Many Irvine patients want therapy that gives them practical tools. Our licensed therapists offer cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps you notice and change the thought and behavior patterns that keep anxiety and depression going. For obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), we offer exposure and response prevention (ERP), a structured approach that helps you face intrusive thoughts without falling back on compulsions. We also offer grief counseling by secure video, and couples therapy in person or by telehealth. If you would rather talk in Farsi, Leila Hashemi, LCSW, offers therapy in Farsi and English by secure video. Learn more about therapy at IPW Health.
IPW Health was founded by Shahrzad (Shery) Shadmani, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, a psychiatric nurse practitioner who is also board-certified as a family nurse practitioner. That background is why we pay attention to hormonal and metabolic factors, such as thyroid function, iron levels, blood sugar and sleep, that can affect mood, energy and focus. Shery works with a team of other psychiatric providers and licensed therapists, so your psychiatric care and your therapy can be coordinated under one roof.
Telehealth is available throughout California, Oregon, Washington and Colorado, so you can meet from home in Turtle Rock, from your office near the Spectrum, or while you’re traveling for work. We also see patients from Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Santa Margarita and San Clemente. If you live just south of Irvine, see our page for Laguna Hills, right across the I-5 from our office.
Insurance: In-network with Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medicare, Optum and UnitedHealthcare for both therapy and psychiatry. Cash-pay is also available. Coverage varies by plan, so we verify your benefits before your first visit. See plans and pricing.
